Western Red Cedar is a lightweight, naturally durable softwood valued for its attractive appearance, stability and resistance to decay. It ranges in colour from pale brown to reddish brown and often displays a straight grain with a fine, even texture, but can vary.
Cedar is easy to machine, accepts coatings well, when dry and is widely used where natural durability and appearance are important. Its low density makes it easy to handle, while its stability makes it a preferred timber for exterior applications.
Typical uses: cladding, fencing, shingles, exterior joinery, garden structures, screening, gates, panelling and architectural timber features.
