Sapele is a durable and attractive tropical hardwood widely used in the UK joinery industry. It is typically reddish brown in colour, often with an interlocked grain that can produce a decorative ribbon stripe figure.
Sapele is strong, stable and suitable for both internal and external joinery when correctly specified. It machines well, finishes to a high standard and is commonly used as a substitute for traditional mahogany-type timbers.
Typical uses: windows, doors, external joinery, internal joinery, furniture, mouldings, shopfitting, boatbuilding, veneers and architectural timberwork.
